3Bridges Community volunteers are the heart of our organisation, we rely on their passion, generosity and their commitment to our families, carers and individuals. As the reality of COVID-19 became more real, the decision had to be made to stand down our wonderful volunteers immediately.

Looking back I am proud that we did this with clarity and direction, protecting the very people that spend their spare time caring for others.
Under our CEO’s leadership we called in all the key staff across the business to communicate and reassure; that was our primary goal; communicate and reassure. The situation we faced was unprecedented, there was no script and everyone was trying to implement best practice in a pandemic that was totally unknown.
What worked so well in my view, was the willingness of our staff to get in there and get the job done. We did away with lengthy consultations, kept ourselves informed through the various mediums of communication and shared that information in a timely manner.
What also worked well was the continued connection between the program coordinators, volunteer coordinator and their volunteers through weekly emails, phone calls and text messages; simple things that reminded our volunteers we are still here and we will get through this together.
